Day 1:

Arrival

Arrive at the local airport and transfer to your accommodation. Enjoy an evening meal and discuss your tour program.

Day 2:

Discover the city

Take the day to explore the sights of the big city and place your family history in a cultural context. Whether visiting national monuments, exploring regional history museums, or immersing yourself in local art, understanding the bigger picture of your ancestral roots may uncover some interesting family history quirks!

Day 3:

Visit a registry

If you have specific names, locations & dates already uncovered, it may be possible to submit that information to a state/regional registry for further research, often located in the larger towns and cities.

An afternoon/evening of taking in some more local color can help enrich the information you already have!

Day 4:

Dig into the countryside

Escape some of the trappings of the 21st century and head out into the rural farmlands and countryside. Breathe in the country air as your forerunners may have done and catch a vision for Old World European life outside the modern cities.

A visit to a historic folk village can heighten your imagination for life in bygone eras. 

Day 5:

Retrace the route

As people departed for the New World, the often left from major sea ports. Retrace the possible route your ancestors followed from rural farmland to major coastal city.

Day 6:

Explore the port

Coastal departure cities often house a maritime museum recreating past economic glories of trading on the high seas. Or, an ethnographic museum may document the struggles of a particular people group.

Day 7:

Departure

Wrap up your discovery tour with a drop-off at a regional airport, or extend your stay for more on-the-ground research.

Every endeavor will be made to include an afternoon of local research, but may be limited or non-existent depending on location.
