Europe Road Trips
Summer 2026
Companion spots available

Between vineyard and cathedral. Between medieval stone and living culture. Discover Europe this summer like never before.
I'm making three road trips across Europe this summer—and I have space for you.

Not a tour. Not a group itinerary. Companion spots on journeys I'm making anyway, with someone who knows the roads, speaks the language, and has spent two decades learning how Europe actually works.
Small. Intimate. Real.

Three Routes Taking Shape
I'm offering companion spots on three distinct European road trips—each with its own character, each departing July through August 2026.

-
Zero markup, zero hidden costs
-
Ground transport, accommodations, meals, activities, and full guidance included
-
Maximum 3 people total per trip (you, possibly one other traveler, me)

Duration is flexible: 8, 10, or 12 days—we adjust the route to match your time and interests.
French Wine & Culture
Bordeaux → Lyon
~mid-July
$350/day
German Heartland
Strasbourg → Berlin
~Late July
$380/day
Britain Beyond London
London → Liverpool
~mid-August
$370/day
Route 1: French Wine & Medieval Culture
Bordeaux → Lyon | ~Mid-July | $350/day
Saint-Émilion's limestone wine caves. Family cognac houses where three generations still tend the stills. Limoges porcelain workshops and Bourges' soaring Gothic cathedral. Lyon—where even the corner bistros are transcendent.
This is France for people who want substance over selfies. Serious wine. Medieval architecture that still holds its breath. Food that ruins you for casual dining.
Likely dates: July 16-25 (flexible)
Typical duration: 10 days
Your cost: $3,500 (10 days) | $2,800 (8 days) | $4,200 (12 days)
Route 2: German Heartland & History
Strasbourg → Berlin | ~Late July | $380/day

Rothenburg's perfectly preserved medieval walls. Bamberg's smoked beer and UNESCO old town. Nuremberg's imperial castle and sobering history. Weimar—where Goethe wrote, where Bauhaus was born. Leipzig, where Bach composed and peaceful protests brought down a wall. Then Berlin: the city that refused to forget and chose to become.

This is Germany's cultural spine. The castles, the composers, the history that built and broke and rebuilt a nation.
Likely dates: July 28 - August 6 (flexible)
Typical duration: 10 days
Your cost: $3,800 (10 days) | $3,040 (8 days) | $4,560 (12 days)
Route 3: Britain Beyond London
London → Liverpool/North Wales | ~Early August | $370/day

Cotswolds villages straight from storybooks. Shakespeare's Stratford. Peak District's dramatic limestone dales. Liverpool—where four lads from nowhere changed everything. Then Wales: Snowdonia's peaks, Conwy's medieval castle, Celtic culture that never quite bent.

This is the Britain you imagined. Pastoral and wild. Literary and musical. Older than it looks.
Likely dates: August 15-24 (flexible)
Typical duration: 10 days
Your cost: $3,700 (10 days) | $2,960 (8 days) | $4,440 (12 days)

What this is
I'm a professional travel guide. I've been designing trips worldwide and personally guiding travelers for 20+ years. American/British, fluent in French and conversant in others, deeply familiar with these regions.
This is guided travel with a fixed framework and flexible soul. Start and end points are set. The pace is slower—we prioritize depth over coverage. The itinerary is less packed than typical tours because the goal is presence, not miles logged. Within that structure, there's room to adapt: spend longer at a vineyard that moves you, skip something that doesn't resonate, follow curiosity when it strikes. Professional guidance at cost-based pricing instead of boutique custom rates.
This is transparent pricing. You're getting boutique, private-tour-level guidance at cost. No markup, no hidden fees—just the actual expense of traveling well in each country, passed through directly.

This is small-group travel. Maximum 3 people total. Intimate enough for real conversation. Flexible enough to adapt to what emerges. No tour buses. No crowds. No strangers you'll never see again.

What's included
✓ All ground transportation (comfortable car, I drive)
✓ All accommodations (guesthouses, small hotels—good beds, local character)
✓ Partial-board (breakfast daily)
✓ Entrance fees, museums, activities listed
✓ Full guidance and logistics handling
✓ Someone who knows the back roads, the good restaurants, and where to stop when the light is perfect
What's not
✗ Your flights to/from route start and end points
✗ Travel insurance (strongly recommended)
✗ Personal expenses (souvenirs, extra snacks, etc.)

This will work if you:
✓ Want European travel but don't want to go alone
✓ Appreciate expertise without needing luxury
✓ Can walk 3-5 miles comfortably most days
✓ Value culture, history, food, wine, genuine experiences
✓ Are comfortable with small group dynamics
✓ Prefer depth over checklists
This won't work if you:
✗ Need luxury accommodations or highly structured resort-style travel
✗ Want a party atmosphere or nightlife-focused trip
✗ Prefer large group tours or solo independence
✗ Can't handle moderate daily walking
Still have questions?
How do dates work? Listed dates are target departures with ~2 days flexibility either direction. Once travelers are confirmed, we finalize exact dates together.
Can I do 8 or 12 days instead of 10? Absolutely. Same daily rate—we just adjust the route to compress or extend.
I'm traveling solo—will I share a room? No, you regardless of solo/duo travel, you will have your own room.
How do I know this is legitimate? I run Liminal Journeys professionally (this website). I provide a formal service agreement before booking, past client references are available, and pricing is verifiable against public State Dept rates. Happy to connect you with previous travelers.
What's your cancellation policy? More than 60 days before departure: deposit retained, balance refunded 30-60 days before: 50% retained Less than 30 days: 100% retained Travel insurance strongly recommended.
